Lamontville Golden Arrows began life on the streets of Lamontville, KwaZulu-Natal back in 1943 but really started going as a football club when they played in the National Professional Soccer League in the 1970s.

Golden Arrows’ fortunes took a dip in 1980 when they were embroiled in a soccer scandal that saw them being kicked out of the NPSL and the cub fell into obscurity.

In 1996, businesswoman Mato Madlala and her family (who have a long relationship with the Lamontville area) bought Second Division club Ntokozo FC, renamed it Lamontville Golden Arrows and brought the club back into top tier football in South Africa.
