Maritzburg United was formed from the passions of the players and fans in the city of Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, to keep top-tier football alive in the area.

Current Chairman Farook Kadodia was integral to the formation of the club and has been involved in the history of Maritzburg United since his days as a 19-year-old footballer.

While Maritzburg United have not – yet – claimed any top honours, the club’s ethos of being inspirational and aspirational to and for all its supporters has seen its players and the team become firm favourites with an exciting and enjoyable brand of football in the top divisions of South African soccer.
