Intro SuperSport United is a South African football club based in Atteridgeville, Tshwane. As SuperSport United, they are a relative newcomer on the SA soccer scene although the roots of the club go back to a Pretoria-based club called Pretoria city. Pay-TV channel M-Net bought Pretoria City in 1994 in order to get a foothold in local football and, in tandem with their pan-African television rights and coverage, further establish their involvement and support of local football. In 1995 the Pretoria City board approached the NSL and lobbied to change their name to SuperSport United FC. The decision was approved and SuperSport United has gone on to become firm fan favourites with a consistent history of championship wins and entertaining players.
