Former Kaizer Chiefs star George Lebese admits he would consider an opportunity to go back to Naturena if he did get the chance.
Lebese remains a free agent and is in search of a new club after his supposed move to TTM broke down due to clearance issues.
Speaking on his situation at the moment, a return to Amakhosi might not be such a bad idea, he says.
“If it was according to me, I would already be there” Lebese said in an interview regarding a return to his former side.
“But obviously you know football, even the way I left there are people at the team who didn’t take it well. So it’s a decision that has to be made. I think the team has decided against that, so that’s why I’m here. So I’ll welcome any opportunity that might come, I’m not closing anything you know.”
Lebese did cause a stir when he decided to leave Chiefs and join rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.
“No, I don’t regret leaving them… if I didn’t leave then I was going to regret not having left. So it works like that, it’s life. It’s either you leave or you stay, it’s your choice. I can’t say I regret.”
“I’m still in communication with them, hopefully by the end of this month I will have it, because even the guys at Switchbacks are helping me. I think it’s the league that’s causing the delay.”
At the moment, Lebese is still uncertain where or when he’ll be playing football next but remains calm in the midst of it all. “I don’t know, it’s just to wait until the season is over and start again next season, we will see,” he added.
“At TTM I spoke to coach Dylan Kerr after I saw some reports where they were saying some negative stuff. At least I managed to speak to him… and he didn’t mean it that way. He was misquoted. He said he is working hard to help the team survive relegation, he will be happy to have me back.”
“But we will see, I don’t know, the club has to make that decision. So ja if I get my papers they are also an option. I had signed with them until the season ends with an option to stay further, like a year. So now the problem is clearance. We are here now, I’m home.”
