Kaizer Chiefs have been given some advice regarding how they can put the saga between Samir Nurkovic and veteran Bernard Parker to an end after their most recent outing.
During their recent disappointing 1-1 draw against Swallows on Wednesday, things got heated after replays literally showed Parker and Nurkovic visibly engaged in a row of words in what seemed like a tense argument.
That incident seemed to sum up the current situation of Kaizer Chiefs who find themselves without a win in their last four games.
Former Amakhosi defender Peter Matshitse has adviced Gavin Hunt to step into the matter and sort out the issue before their CAF Champions League clash against Tanzania at the weekend.
“Those things happen in football but something like what happened there depends on an individual on how he takes it. But we don’t know for sure what really went on there and I can say it’s all about speculation at this stage. People are saying what they are saying based on reading the lips and so on without knowing what really happened. We can’t say for sure who said what. Take for example that Zinedine Zidane incident when he headbutted an opponent (Marco Materazzi) during a (2006) World Cup match, and that’s why I say these things happen in the game,” said Matshitse, speaking in an interview.
“There were a lot of speculation and conflicting reports on what the guy might have said to Zidane and all of that. Some people were saying that he said something about Zidane’s sister while others believed that it was a racial issue. Players react differently to certain situations and they are different in their tampers. Some players refer voicing out their opinions right there on the field as things happen while others choose to wait until the interval to discuss matters. What we should also understand is that emotions (are) high during a game and some players end up saying things that they never intended to say because of the tempo of the game. The right way to go about the whole (Parker and Nurkovic) incident would be for the coach, as the players were selected by him and playing for him, to sort things out. The coach must find out what happened and try to sort things out. From there, the players can shake hands and move on,” the former centre-back added.
