Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper has no intention of leaving the club

According to his agent, Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brylon Petersen will not consider an exit from the club as he intends to stay put and fight for a place in the starting lineup.

Petersen has no intention to leave

Petersen is said to be thankful of the way Amakhosi have given their full pursuit while he continues to pursue a degree in engineering alongside.

The player’s agent, Modise Sefume, insists that the goalkeeper will stay put with Amakhosi for as much as they want him around.

“At the moment we haven’t had an opportunity to meet with the club as yet, but Brylon has since completed his degree and now in a position to give his football a really big push. Unlike most players, who only secure their future towards the end of their careers, he has secured it at an earlier stage” said Modise Sefume.

He added: “We are now waiting for it to just take off. He’s an unbelievably talented player that much is much is clear because there are very few people who can study engineering and still maintain a contract at Kaizer Chiefs for over 3 years. So there’s something that he’s doing that the club likes and he is focused on that job at the moment.”

Sefume further stressed that Petersen isn’t bothered by a lack of time between the sticks. Still only 25-years-old, he still boasts more than enough time to make that position his own.

“We are not averse to looking elsewhere, but obviously these things need to happen in the correct environment. I can’t be actively looking whilst the Brylon is still contracted and has a job to do at Chiefs. We’ve seen what a tumultuous season it’s been for Chiefs, in particular the goalkeepers. I do hope the coach can give him a chance to play like some have also been given an opportunity, so why not bet on a wild card while you still have it?”

Competition for the gloves is intense at Kaizer Chiefs with Daniel Akpeyi and Itumeleng Khune locked in a battle for the number one shirt. The fact that two already established goalkeepers remain in the tussle for a first-team berth tells the story and explains why Petersen would hardly get game-time for any reason at all.

The 25-year-old is yet to feature at all in the PSL this season.
