Ntseki breaks silence after his sacking as Bafana Bafana manager

Molefi Ntseki has cleared the air and gave a response after he was relieved of his duties as South Africa head coach on Wednesday morning.

The South African Football Association held a press confenrence at SAFA House on Wednesday to confirm the decision to sack Ntseki. This comes after Bafana Bafana’s failure to secure a spot in the next edition of the f Africa Cup of Nations. A 2-0 defeat to Sudan last Sunday was the final nail in the coffin for the 51-year-old.

As at when the decision of Ntseki’s sacking was announced publicly, the manager was not aware and SAFA CEO Tebogo Motlanthe told the media that was due to the final decision coming to play just as at 10am on Wednesday morning

As per multiple reliable reports from South African media, Ntseki’s contract with SAFA was due to expire in 2023.

The 51-year-old did drop a hint that he was not pleased with the way his sacking panned out.

Ntseki was quoted to have said: “I am not into any media platform, but my agent called me to say that there was a press conference today and in the press conference they terminated the contract”

“He was actually shocked because he saw something in the media platforms. To be honest, we are still consulting and maybe he can help to may give direction,” Ntseki said in response to a question about whether or not they are considering treating his sacking as an unfair dismissal.

“As for many other things, I don’t think I will be able to say them now.”

Ntseki’s agent, Thato Matuka, also gave his reaction to the sacking, claiming that himself or his client (Ntseki) didn’t get any prior information before any decision was made.

“I don’t know anything, but I am hoping SAFA will come to us. Somebody did tell me that in the press conference they did say that. So hopefully they will come to us. For now I am treating it as rumours, because it has been said in the media and somebody. But I cannot comment on something that has been sent to us officially” Matuka said.

It now remains to be seen if Ntseki will take the matter up as an ‘illegal’ sacking and perhaps push for compensation to cover for the remainder of his contract, which was due to expire in 2023.
