Zimbabwean striker Ishmael Wadi may ply his trade in the GladAfrica Championship, but his hot form has not gone unnoticed by the big boys. The Zimbabwean is attracting from some top clubs in the PSL.
The forward put pen to paper for JDR Stars at the beginning of the season. He signed a deal for two years with the side, joining from CAPS United after bamboozling the side during his assessment. During the period before he was signed, the striker made no delays in displaying his abilities.
Goals seem to come naturally to the 28-year-old, who has found the net five times in the six games that he has played. He has become the team’s source of goals, with the Pretoria club sitting in fourth place on the log. JDR are a point behind leaders Hungry Lions, who have surprisingly jumped to the top of the table.
Wadi’s first goal came against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila. He also scored in the win over Pretoria Callies before he supplied a brace in the win over Polokwane City. His two goals were enough to secure a 3-2 win. Against TS Sporting, Wadi banged in his fifth goal helping his side to a 2-0 win.
In every game that he scored, JDR has gone on to win, with his form securing selection into the Warriors for their World Cup qualifiers.
Wadi’s streak of form has seen him attract attention from some top clubs. In Johannesburg, the striker is subject of interest, and according to a source, if he maintains this form, it’s a matter of time before an official bid arrives.
Wadi, who has also donned the shirt of a few clubs like Harare and Bulawayo City, intends to break into the PSL. His goals are coming at a rate that has his name on not a few lips.
