Former Jomo Cosmos defender Themba Shabalala has confirmed his new role in football after he decided to retire at the end of the 2020/21 NFD season.
The 34-year-old, who played as a centre-back featured for a host of teams in his professional career, played for Cosmos last year.
“I have officially retired from playing professional football and I have embarked on a new journey as an agent. I am in partnership with a friend of mine Themba Kgutledi and we are both on course to unearth talented youngsters to help them realize their dream of playing football at professional level. We have started TT Sports Management,” confirmed Shabalala.
“We also have some players who are already playing at professional level like Bafana Kali whom we have just secured a deal for at Free State Stars. He has joined the club for a second spell to assist them to return to the top-flight. He is an experienced player who has been to Uthongathi FC, Richards Bay FC and Swallows. He was in the Swallows team that won promotion to the DStv Premiership two seasons ago. He has joined Free State Stars from JDR Stars. We would like to thank Free State Stars for the opportunity that they have given the boy. Stars is a big club with good people, and I am saying this from experience, having played for the club myself in my career. I had a good time at the club and those people took really good care of me, and I appreciate that. I am confident that the boy will do well in that environment such as Stars,” he said.
“We have also facilitated the move of Olebogeng Mosiane who has also signed for Stars. Mosiane is a young boy who was formerly with Highlands Park MDC club and Mighty Blacks FC in the ABC Motsepe League,” concluded Shabalala.
