Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Jody February is reportedly seeking a loan move away from the club to pursue more regular playing time.
The 2020/21 DStv Premiership champions have a strong line up in their goalkeeping departments, which is arguably the best in the league.
Masandawana currently have Denis Onyango, Kennedy Mweene, Reyaad Pieterse, Ricardo Goss and Jody February as part of their 48-man squad ahead of the new campaign.
The impressive displays of first-choice goalkeeper, Onyango, has left the other goalkeeping options with little playing time.
February, a former South Africa youth international, is now believed to be in search of a season-long loan deal for the new campaign.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper said back in 2019 that he was more than happy to learn from the best at the Brazilians.
“I think playing for Sundowns forces you out of your comfort zone,” February said.
“To test how strong you are as a man and not just physically but mentally as well.
“I think for me, it will be a good thing considering how young I am.”
But now, according to a source, even though February remains happy at Sundowns, he has instructed his agent to look for a temporary move.
“They haven’t had that crunch talks yet, but it’s going to happen soon,” the source revealed in a recent interview.
“It’s a mutual thing. Both parties feel the player is still young and still has enough time to form part of the team once his loan expires.
“It will be decided next week if he’s going to be staying or not.
“February will not be personally involved in the negotiations. He has left everything to his agent”.
February’s agent, Mike Makaab, when reached for comment was quoted as saying, “we are working on it”.
It is clear now more than ever that the goalkeeper wants a move away from the club and it would make sense for all parties if his wish is granted.
