Mike Makaab, agent or Bernard Parker, says Stuart Baxter is the ideal coach for his player at this stage of his career.
Two weeks ago, Parker became the all-time top goalscorer for Kaizer Chiefs in the Premier Soccer League era, surpassing a record previously held by Siphiwe Tshabalala when he netted twice in the win over SuperSport United.
Makaab, while speaking, paid tribute to the 35-year-old, who he expects to still deliver at Amakhosi especially with the Englishman at the helm.
“I don’t think anyone can ever deny that Bernard has always given his all for the club. I have said this before, and will say it again. I have not been in touch with Stuart since he came back, but he’s a top-class football coach. He is more than a football coach, he is a top-class football manager and he has the ability to get the best out of players,” the agent said.
“And that’s the hallmark of an experienced, seasoned person. That’s what Stuart Baxter is. The one thing I will guarantee you about Stuart is that he will be mindful of the fact that Bernard has got a lot of miles in those football legs of his – so he will still protect him where he has to and use him when he needs to. Stuart is not going to listen to anybody, the only advice he will take is from his technical staff.”
Parker has also been named vice captain at Chiefs by Baxter, when he returned for a second spell in July, and he’s worn the armband a lot more because Itumeleng Khune’s hasn’t been playing this season.
He was also given a contract extension until June next year, and Makaab has confirmed the player is keen to delve into coaching when he does hang up his boots.
