De Reuck: I want to give 100% and be selfless

Winter Mamelodi signing Rushine De Reuck has expressed gratitude to Chloorkop staff and team-mates, assuring them that he is fully committed to the team effort for the title this season.

The in-form defender joined the club on a five-year deal in January and has already impressed Manqoba Mngqithi enough to gain a regular spot in the back-four.

“I’m very happy with my contribution,” De Reuck told the club press, “I must thank the coaches, technical team and everyone showing faith in me.

“It’s not easy to come to the club and play. It’s a big team with a great squad and quality players. I am happy to be part of it and I want to keep contributing to the team’s success and win games.

“I want to give 100% on the field and be selfless.”

The 25-year-old centre-back made his debut for the Sundowns in their 5-1 trouncing over CR Belouizdad in the CAF Champions League.

Mngqithi then used him as a substitution late in the game against TP Mazembe after a Ricardo Nascimento sending off. And De Reuck helped the defensive line hold ensuring a valuable 2-1 victory on the night.

“TP Mazembe is a big club, they have done so well in the CAF Champions League and to start a game and keep a clean sheet and win against them was quite special.

“Continental football is very different; you can see the level as it takes a split second to change the game at that level.

“It was nice for me to test myself against some of the best on the continent. It shows that I am in the right direction and with the help of the guys around me at the club, and for me I just keep pushing hard at training and give back to the team by playing well.”

De Reuck has certainly hit all the high notes during his short stay with Masandawana but has remained humble despite earning a man of the match award in his DStv debut against Stellenbosch.

“Winning that award in Cape Town against Stellenbosch was great for me. It was a difficult game, we showed that we can be very competitive, we showed character, we dug deep for that win.

“It’s nice to be recognised for your performance and you grow as a player.

“As much as I got the award at the end, it was all about the team and getting the three points.”

Mamelodi Sundowns welcomed the international break with a convincing lead at the top of the PSL and will resume their title chase with a visit to Thohoyandou Stadium in two weeks.
