Mamelodi Sundowns won the race to sign Thabiso Kutumela and Phelelani Ntshangase has shared his thoughts on the player’s arrival.
Kutumela, who has been consistent in the past two years, raised the bar last season as he helped Maritzburg United to DStv Premiership safety which prompted the interests from AmaZulu and SuperSport United.
Ntshangase is confident that Kutumela won’t suffer like he did at Orlando Pirates where he failed to live up to expectations.
“The signing of Kutumela, I believe that it’s a very good one because is one of the players that did well throughout the season and he is gonna do well at Sundowns with their style of play. It will suit him whenever given a chance,” Ntshangase said in an interview.
“I don’t think he will struggle like he did with Pirates, he has grown and has more understanding of pressure.”
With new players at Downs, the former defender believes that the club needs to release two players.
“Tebogo Langerman and Soumahollo Bangaly, I believe they no longer contribute to much in the team. Bear in mind, there is (Lyle) Lakay and (Aubrey) Modiba at left back, while in central defence you have (Ricardo) Nascimento, (Brian) Onyango, (Rushine) De Reuck, (Mosa) Lebusa, and it is very difficult for these players to be in a starting line-up.
So far, Sundowns have been perhaps one of the most active sides in the transfer window and it shows their intent to go all out next season once again. As per multiple reports, the reigning champions are not done with their business just yet. A host of players are still expected to be released, while some additions are yet to be made. It’ll be interesting to see how these singings gel in their new team and if they can keep up to the high demands that come with playing for the Brazilians.
