Swallows give latest update on Lebese

Swallows FC have provided an update on winger George Lebese, who has been training with the club.

The former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns player has been training with the club with a hope of landing a deal after a spell in the US with the Colorado Springs Switchbacks.

According to Swallows team manager Elasto Kapowezha, the Dube Birds are looking to make a decision on Lebese by the end of the week.

“At the moment, he is still under assessment. We are still just having a look at George and we have not reached a decision as yet regarding whether we are going to sign him or not. We are hoping that by the end of the week we should be able to finalise the issue of George and confirm our position regarding him,” Kapowezha said in a recent interview.

“At the end of the day, there is no way that George can be bad overnight. The quality is still there. We all know what he is all about. There’s just certain things we have to look at as a club, that may not necessarily have to do with his ability because that is never in doubt. We have to look at so many things, which the technical team is looking at. But he has been impressive. He has done well, but we have to look at other factors as well. Sometimes it boils down to that. But we are happy with George. He is showing the hunger and he is showing he really wants to come back stronger to PSL football.”

It remains to be seen what will happen with Lebese but it’s safe to say he is looking rather unwanted by Swallows and they could yet let him go. However, his experience in the PSL means some clubs would still be happy to take him in their ranks. We’ll have to wait and see how things progress regarding his future.
