Hunt Clears The Air

Hunt: Chiefs have been denied blatant penalties for three games

Kaizer Chiefs boss Gavin Hunt has bemoaned questionable calls that have seen his side denied ‘blatant’ penalties in their last three consecutive games.

His latest comments come after Amakhosi dropped points at Baroka in disappointing fashion.

Chiefs saw a penalty appeal turned down in the tenth minute after Samir Nurkovic was apparently fouled and brought down by Vusi Sibiya in the area. However, the appeals were ignored once again.

Lebogang Manyama did give Chiefs the lead after the break but it ended on a sour note after a late goal by Evidence Makgopa ensured both sides shared the spoils.

“I think we played well enough to win the game, I think we deserved it but in football you don’t always get what you deserve,” Hunt said in an explosive rant after the match.

“You know their goal was a big deflection, you know really upsetting [because] they never really had a shot at goal, yeah they did overload us in the wide areas but I mean we still had enough opportunities to win the game.

“I thought, again it’s three games in a row blatant penalties, you don’t get it in the first-half so that’s football,” he said.

“There’s two facets of the game that we gotta do better and the one is defending, you have to defend when you have to defend we had to defend better with the goal, as I said it was big deflection with the goal, disappointing.

“Because I don’t think honestly they deserve that but that’s football, you know here we go again, that’s fine. They’re strong, we’re getting better, that’s the most important thing, we played some good football at times, there was good movement, third man was good, so we just have to keep on working.

“Every game [is important], either way wherever position you’re in but I mean we still have nine games left, there’s a long way to go, I still think we should finish well, obviously today didn’t go for us,” he went on. “Last week as well, the last week against Stellenbosch two blatant penalties you don’t get it changes the course of the game so, that’s football.

“Another tough game [against Cape Town City], obviously they haven’t played as many games as we have, obviously the closer you get to the end it wears on you, we have played a lot of games, a lot of up and down, we just have to regroup, we need a couple days off we’ve got and we’ll take it and see where we go” he added.
