Mamelodi Sundowns Suffer

Ntuli urged to stay put at Amazulu amid lack of game-time

Bonginkosi Ntuli has seen a tough campaign so far, with game-time hard to come by at AmaZulu. Regardless, the experienced front man has been urged to stick with Usuthu

The 30-year-old has been immense for AmaZulu over the past two years and also played a key role in saving them from relegation last season.

However, it has been a different story this season. In the current campaign, Ntuli has struggled for regular minutes on the pitch. Multiple injuries have not helped his situation idea and all of these have led to speculation that the player could be released from the club come the end of the season.

Reflecting on the matter, Ndlovu admits Ntuli has struggled this term but believes the 30-year-old still has a job to do at the club, especially with the possibility of Usuthu qualifying for the CAF competition next season.

Speaking in an interview, the former PSL striker said: “Bonginkosi Ntuli is a big striker, he doesn’t suit the style played by AmaZulu FC right now under coach Benni McCarthy and if you look at the likes of Lehlohonolo Majoro, (who is) mobile,”

He added: “I don’t think he is not in McCarthy’s plans, he just needs to adapt to the set up in the team. He is a good striker and the club can’t really lose a player like him.”

Amazulu are currently in second position and boast a strong chance of sealing a spot to the CAF Champions League and Ndlovu feels that the players must remain equal to the task and see off the good work that they have started so far under the tutelage of Benni McCarthy.

He concluded: “AmaZulu are in a good space to qualify for CAF. They need to keep pushing and I’ve seen their fighting spirit, they are united. They must now avoid losing focus, they in a very tough position and everyone wanta to beat them,”

So far this season, Ntuli has only made seven total appearances for Amazulu across all competitions. However, a good part of those appearances have been mere cameos off the bench and it’s no surprise he only has 224 total minutes to his name all season.

Only time will tell if Benni McCarthy still has the 30-year-old in his plans.
