Kaizer Chiefs and Namibian legend Robert Nauseb has revealed that the achievements of Peter Shalulile in the Premier Soccer League is for the whole country and not just for himself.
The Mamelodi Sundowns striker was the biggest winner at the 2020/21 PSL Awards ceremony on Sunday, as he was named the PSL Footballer of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season. The striker scored 15 goals as Sundowns clinched a record fourth straight league title.
“First of all, I just want to say congratulations to Deon Hotto for winning the last man standing, I want to say congratulations to Peter Shalulile for winning the PSL Player of the season and Players’ Player of the season,” Nauseb said while speaking in an interview.
According to Nauseb, who is the Namibian national team assistant coach, the country shares the two achievements with the lethal striker.
“My brother this is a big achievement, not only for them, but for the country itself and the teams that they are playing for. You know these guys have worked very hard obviously. And you know as a professional footballer you play to achieve something. And in your first season, at a top club like Mamelodi Sundowns you perform the way you perform.
“Obviously, you wanna top it up cherry on top you want to win the league. Obviously you want top it up by winning an award and he has done it you know. So I’m very, very honoured to coach them at the national team, and privileged to work with them because they are talent. Last time we had a chat he said ‘Coach I’m gonna push all the way’.
Shalulile enjoyed a brilliant season with Sundowns as they raced to their fourth consecutive league crown. His goals were instrumental in their title quest and the Namibian will now aim to pick off from where he left off next season.
