Former Golden Arrows head coach Mandla Ncikazi has revealed his role at new club Orlando Pirates, breaking his silence since his move after the 2020/2021 PSL season ended.
When the 52-year-old joined the Buccaneers from Abafana Bes’thende, the club only announced that he would be joining their technical team without a designated role, but all of that has been to put bed now with his latest revelation.
While speaking with the club’s media department, the well-traveled coach revealed what he plans to bring to Pirates’ assembly of stars, surrounding the high expectations from the club’s passionate supporters.
“Working with the technical team and everybody involved at the club, we must identify the smaller edges and advantages we have over our opponents that we can take so that it can give us wins,” he told Pirates TV.
“I’m not coming into a club that has not done well, they won the MTN8 and the Carling Cup and the quarter-finals in two competitions, so how can I just add to what is there already without removing what is already there.
“Blessings as they are, they also go with burdens, the expectations are huge in this club, this is a club that is expected to win every match, every trophy, so the joy is short-lived and I am hoping that my little contribution can be enough to help this club to be better. I don’t take it lightly that I am in a galaxy of stars, coming from an environment where maybe the resources were not this big,” he added.
Having spent over a month at Pirates, Ncikazi revealed his new role, as a member of Bucs’ technical team.
“My name is Mandla Ncikazi, Orlando Pirates assistant coach.”
After much speculation over his exact role with Pirates, it is all out there in the open and many will of course be eager to see what the experienced tactician will add to the Bucs.
