As per a recent report, SuperSport United will only consider selling their prized asset in Sipho Mbule for a substantial amount. The midfielder has been linked with a move to Kazier Chiefs lately but Gavin Hunt’s side would have to cough out a decent amount if that move is to happen.
Given Chiefs’ spending policy in recent years, it could see them turn off switch off their interest in the Supersport United star. Chiefs are not known to be heavy spenders and it’s rather unlikely they will budge to the latest transfer demand.
It is also important to note that Amakhosi are still currently on a two-window transfer ban issue by FIFA in 2020 over the ‘illegal’ signing of Malagasy player Andriamirado Aro Hasina Andrianamimanana.
With that in mind, Chiefs need to undergo a proper squad rebuild and you can imagine they’ll be unwilling to spend so much on one player.
However, some reports have claimed Mbule fits the profile of a player that Gavin Hunt likes, with the young midfielder catching the eye with a number of impressive displays this season. His impressive stems all the way back to last season where he was a shining light for Amakhosi as well.
So far this season, the 22-year-old has featured in 17 league matches for the Tshwane outfit, scoring two goals and recording five assists to his name.
Given how well the player has seen his stock rise over recent time, it’s understandable to see why SuperSport are unwilling to sell Mbule. In fact, the word coming from an inside source claims Matsatsantsa plan to build their future around the player.
“We will do what we did to Sundowns when they first wanted Aubrey Modiba” an inside source in SuperSport United was quoted to have said as per South African outlet Citizen.
“If they are serious, they will need to put serious money on the table because we developed Sipho from scratch and we are building a team around him, so letting him go will disrupt the structure of the club.”
“We will need to make the sale worthwhile – that’s if we do agree to sell him.”
However, Chiefs do boast a youngster with similar talent of their own in Nkosingiphile Ngcobo. The 21-year-old has more or less been the club’s brightest and most consistent player this season. The current campaign is only his first full campaign in the PSL but he has shown there is a lot to expect from him so far.
